More than 150 firefighters, 16 helicopters and additional air support were deployed to fight a wildfire burning near Okanagan Lake in British Columbia, on August 7, authorities said. This footage, by Dr Christian Sasse, shows a plane making an airdrop over a wooded area. Sasse said the video was filmed on the east side of the lake, south of Vernon. The fire, dubbed the White Rock Lake Wildfire, prompted authorities to place more than 200 properties under an evacuation alert. Local news reports said thousands of people had fled their homes. The fire first broke out on July 13, and has since grown to an estimated 55,700 hectares (or 137,000 acres). Credit: Dr Christian Sasse via Storyful
