Australian flag ‘deserves respect’: Bronwyn Bishop

Former Speaker of the House Bronwyn Bishop says the Australian flag “deserves respect” and needs to be “protected” from people looking to destroy its legacy. “What we need is some respect,” Ms Bishop told Sky News host Gary Hardgrave. “Respect for what’s gone before, respect for the flag and what it represents, and respect for the people that fought under it. “It just makes my blood boil when I find the groups of people that want to attack Australia, and the symbols of Australia. “I think it’s very important we say we want respect, respect for people who died under it, respect for people who serve under it in the ADF today, respect the feelings that people have when they say: ‘this represents freedom for us’."
