Australians rush to book NZ trips ahead of trans-Tasman bubble announcement

Many Australians are taking a risk and rushing to book holidays to New Zealand ahead of Jacinda Ardern’s expected trans-Tasman bubble announcement today says Bachcare spokesperson Zaina Razzaq. She told Sky News many Australians were being brave and taking the plunge to book trips despite no announcement having yet been made. Regarding compensation in the instance there were COVID-induced closures or restrictions, Ms Razzaq said booking companies were looking at the different options “so it really all depends on what the announcement is this afternoon from the government”. “If there are some sort of restrictions in place, if it looks like there will be some issues then of course we’ll look at refunding people their money just to give people that peace of mind to book,” she said. “At the moment what we’re doing in New Zealand is more of a credit policy but obviously it is different because you’re committing to coming to another country when you’re coming from Australia.”
