Dixie Fire Grows to Become Second-Largest in California’s History
There were new evacuation orders on August 8 as the Dixie Fire grew to 463,477 acres, becoming the second largest in California’s history. Officials said the wildfire, which was at 21 percent containment, had damaged or destroyed 669 properties by August 8. Four people were unaccounted for in the blaze, the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office said. The fire swept through the town of Greenville on August 5, leaving it largely destroyed.
