Federal government vetoes funding for Queensland wind farm

Resources Minister Keith Pitt has assessed the federal government's decision to veto $280 million worth of public funding for a wind farm in northern Queensland. The wind farm was designed to power tens of thousands of homes and create hundreds of jobs. "The decision that I've made in terms of the veto is, we're about affordable, reliable and dispatchable," Mr Pitt told Sky News. "So, it didn't meet the requirements for the government's policy". "I've used the veto rights, which I have as minister and I'll table a statement of reasons for that decision in the parliament, which is in accordance with legislation". "I've made a decision based on the application which was before me". Mr Pitt also said it was a "commercially sensitive project" which had a "number of different stages and different elements".
