Infrastructure spend looks ‘very much’ like electioneering

Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says the government’s proposed $10 billion national infrastructure spend and other projects look like very much like electioneering. The government will put forward billions for a number of upgrades to key roads across the nation, which will be announced in Tuesday night’s federal budget. “There was a lot said after the 2019 election win by Scott Morrison about how a series of members running for the Liberals were helped by taking care of that old adage ‘all politics is local’ with their various local infrastructure promises,” Mr Clennell said. Urban Infrastructure Minister Paul Fletcher was pressed over this on Sky News earlier on Monday.
