The Leap Frogs, a performing US Navy parachute team, landed in Central Park in New York City after a skydiving demonstration on August 5. Jumping from a C-130 military plane at 8,000 feet, the skydivers unfurled an American flag with smoke streams behind them before they landed on the park’s Great Lawn. The team was founded in 1969 and got the name The Leap Frogs in 1974. Its members – consisting of active-duty Navy SEALs, Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen (SWCC), and support personnel – volunteer to perform at air shows.
