Mother’s compassionate exemption ‘inexplicably’ denied by Andrews government

Fully vaccinated Sydney resident Katrina Anderson has been denied an exemption by the Andrews government to go to Victoria and see her daughter Georgie – who is fighting an aggressive form of breast cancer. Georgie Hudson is in her second month of chemotherapy, all the while raising two children – both under the age of five – with her husband Kael in the middle of Victoria’s sixth lockdown. According to Sky News host Peta Credlin, the Andrews government has “inexplicably” rejected Ms Anderson’s request on Friday to travel to Victoria and help her daughter. Ms Anderson told Ms Credlin that Georgie and her husband are a “fantastic couple” and have been “very strong and positive”. “They’re devastated because we just assumed we’d get the exemption through, they have it on the website that you can have compassionate leave,” Ms Anderson said. “But for some reason they then eventually, after three weeks and my fourth application, decline it on grounds that – well they didn’t say what grounds.”
