NSW has 43 COVID-19 hospitalisations
New South Wales Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant says the state has recorded 44 new infections and has 43 people hospitalised over the virus, 14 of whom are under 55 years old.
“We have currently got 43 people in hospital due to COVID, ten people in ICU, four of whom are ventilated,” she said.
“We have 14 people admitted to hospital at the moment with COVID under the age of 55 and of those, seven are under the age of 35.”
Dr Chant said of the ten people in intensive care, one is in their twenties and one in their thirties and said cases must be lowered to avoid further hospitalisations.
“The trend of high cases has to be turned around and the only way we can do so if by seeing a decline in numbers.”
“COVID cannot affect people if you do not come in contact with them, and therefore that is the basis of the stay at home orders.”
