Recent events must ‘raise questions’ about Turnbull’s status in the Liberal Party
Sky News host Chris Kenny says a “remarkable turn of events” must “raise questions” about Malcolm Turnbull’s status in the Liberal Party.
It comes after the former prime minister faced criticism after he indorsed an independent candidate in the Upper Hunter by-election, as opposed to backing the Nationals Party for the seat.
The Berejiklian government would fall into minority if the Independent candidate Kirsty O'Connell were to win the poll on May 22.
“That is about as obvious a case of being a political turncoat as you can get,” Mr Kenny said.
“Most people are not surprised, of course, because of what else we've seen and heard from Turnbull in recent months.
“But still, this is a remarkable turn of events isn't it, and it's got to raise questions about Turnbull's status in the Liberal Party.”
