Switching preferred vaccines for under 50s is from ‘an abundance of caution’
Liberal MP Dr Katie Allen says switching the preferred vaccine received by people under 50-year-old to Pfizer instead of AstraZeneca is an “abundance of caution” particularly for women under 30 who are most at risk of blood clots.
“This is not a devasting outcome, this is where we need to pivot as we’ve done all throughout 2020 and we’ve got a crack health team here in Australia, we know our health team really knows what it’s doing and I do believe they’re up to the challenge,” she told Sky News.
“This is an abundance of caution, particularly for the under 30 women.”
