Tanker Planes Help Battle 14,000-Acre Beckwourth Complex Fire as New Evacuations Ordered
Two tanker planes from the Nevada National Guard flew over the Beckwourth Complex fire in California’s Plumas County in footage released on July 8, as new evacuation orders were issued. According to fire officials, the blaze had grown to 14,378 acres – about 22 square miles – and was 30 percent contained on July 9. Officials said “hot, dry, and windy conditions” had contributed to the continued growth of the fire. Further hot and dry weather was forecast, they added. Credit: Nevada National Guard via Storyful
