‘There are two parties in this coalition’: Nationals senator warns PM over net-zero target

Nationals Senator Bridget McKenzie has warned her party will make the prime minister "very aware" there are two "separate" political parties in the Coalition who have differing views when it comes to a net-zero emissions target. The remarks follow the PM's comments overseas that Australia is pushing for a "carbon neutral" economy. "The prime minister's language has been very forward leaning on this topic as he's been overseas," Ms McKenzie said. "We need to make sure as the National Party he's very very aware there's two separate political parties in this coalition government "And one of them has very strong views on zero emissions and wants to understand where the impacts of that policy will come at. "Because it will be our miners, our farmers, our manufacturers that end up paying the price for these sort of decisions. "So until we see a plan we won't be signing up to anything."
