Traffic Backed Up at Canadian Border as Country Opens to Vaccinated US Citizens

A long line of cars formed at the Canada-US border near Saint Stephen, New Brunswick, and Calais, Maine, as Canada began allowing US citizens and permanent residents who were vaccinated against COVID-19 to enter as of August 9. Travelers were expected to have allowed at least 14 days to pass since their last vaccine dose and have a negative COVID-19 test no more than 72 hours old, according to local reports.
