‘Turnbull still the best person to help meet climate policy objectives: Kean

Energy Minister Matt Kean says Malcolm Turnbull is still "the best person” to help NSW achieve its climate policy targets but was forced to rescind his nomination to manage the politics. Sky News Australia revealed last week Mr Kean was planning on appointing Mr Turnbull chair of the key climate body before the former prime minister made controversial statements calling for a suspension of new coal mines. “I still think that Malcolm is the best person to meet our policy objectives, but you can’t do good policy without managing the politics,” he said. “That’s been the problem in tackling the climate change debate for the last decade”. “I’m trying to manage the politics and Malcolm Turnbull, love him or loath him, is a lightning rod and inspires very fierce opinions. “We need someone who can unite the community and help us move forward in this debate."
