Wildfires continued to burn across Greece on August 9, as the country’s civil protection minister, Nikos Hardalias, warned of “unprecedented conditions”. This footage, filmed on August 8 in the towns of Pefki and Gouves, on the island of Evia, shows flames rising through the trees. The Greek fire service said 620 firefighters were deployed on Evia on August 9. A “very high fire risk” was forecast for multiple areas across the country for August 10.
